Not On My Radar...

I kind of understand that people don't like to face the cruel untruths of this world. It makes everything not seem so nice. It makes people uncomfortable. But, we live in a fallen world and it's not going to get better until people stop living in their little bubbles, acting like they're awesome activists by sharing a meme on fb, or feeling self righteous for supporting their friend who is running another marathon.

Those are all good things to do. But the feeling that they are doing enough is not. We should never, ever feel like we are doing enough. We should feel called to do more. We're not going to change anything by ignoring reality.

People didn't like being called out in my blog post about this subject last week. I don't care.

If orphans are not on your radar, they should be. Why? Because these are living, breathing, suffering, starving,

under-stimulated, neglected CHILDREN.

They are babies. Alone. No one to rock them, so they rock alone in their cribs.

No one to love them. Left to die in adult mental institutions.

And you could help. You could put aside your latte, your iPhone apps, your dinner out, your vacation, your new shoes, and your comfortable life inside your nice little bubble and care a little instead. No one is asking you to do everything. But to not do anything is flat out wrong. You could help children find homes. You could ache for them like the Lord must ache for them. You could pray. You could help these babies be seen. You could donate your time, money, effort, anything and make a difference.

You could. Or you could go back to your "slacktivist" ways, put your rose colored glasses back on, and ignore them. And then that's your problem when you have to answer the Lord as to why you turned a blind eye to the ones who needed you the most. The ones that need light shone on them, to be brought out of the darkness and into their mommy's arms.

So, I'm not sorry if I get a little angry once in a while because my heart is about to explode with grief. I don't expect you to understand or to make orphans your "pet cause." I really just hope and pray that someday people will at least care enough to do even a little something here and there for these children who are hidden away.   All I want is for people to wake up and CARE.

  2. Just hopped over here from the bubble and REALLY needed to hear this today. Thank you for the slap across the face to wake up. I needed it. God bless! You have a beautiful family.

  3. This isn't something I would have ever thought of before knowing you and having your blog posts, fb posts, and everything else in my line of sight. This is so sad, it's so hard to know where to begin to be able to help, but you're showing us exactly where to begin. We are not in a place that we can donate financially, but hey, I sure as heck can put the info out there on *my* blog, *my* fb and other social media. This is where I can begin. <3

  4. I'm glad that some people love me for my bluntness, because it surely gets me a lot of haters, too. ;)

Jeanine, that's all I ask for! Sharing helps so much. I know what it's like to fall in love with a picture. Sharing saves lives, really!

  5. Well said ma'am. That's all I have to say really...

  6. Not everyone has the money you have to help ALL the orphans in the world. I can barely keep enough food on the table for my own kids, thanks food stamps, nevermind all the orphaned children around the world. Why don't YOU take off YOUR rose colored glasses and see that not all of us are as fortunate as you to be able to plunk down money for these orphaned children. Don't get me wrong, I feel for them, but until the United States and our fellow American's are in a far better place to offer up help, remember there are families here in just about same position. If you want to donate money, try an American veterans site or to a family here in the United States that is about to live in their car or are already living in one. Get a grip lady.

  7. On the flip side, I didn't mean to post this 5 times, just once should've been enough. Perhaps my computer thought it pertinent to make my point known :)

    2. cagle,
Kara is not rich by any means. She does not have extra money lying around, just like most of us. But she does what she can. She gives of her time, and her heart. She organizes auctions, even if she can't give financially. She most importantly PRAYS, and spreads the word. And frankly, your ethnocentric rant is appalling, as we are ALL God's children. :( How sad that you can't see that. I will pray for you, as well as these poor children.

  8. If you knew anything about me, you'd know that I do not have money. I have four kids and we barely make enough to survive

People are people and I fail to see how ONLY helping Americans is why we should be doing. We should be worried about all of humanity.

If you had bothered to read the whole post you would have seen that I was not calling just for donations. I am calling for everyone to do SOMETHING. Pray, share, anything.

  9. Cagle, try reading the actual post next time. Kara explicitly said that help does not have to be financial in nature. Jeez.

    2. I don't really get what your comment means... My post flat out said it did not have to be financial, but that we could all at least find what we CAN do and do it. Instead of sitting around acting, well, like you...

    3. Is English your second language? I have no idea what you just said.

From Kara's post: "No one is asking you to do everything. But to not do anything is flat out wrong. You could help children find homes. You could ache for them like the Lord must ache for them. You could pray. You could help these babies be seen. You could donate your time, money, effort, anything and make a difference."

How does that translate to, "YOU MUST DONATE ALL YOUR MONEY! NOW!"?

    4. No! English is NOT my second language you judgmental bitch! I speak and read English very well and as far as I am concerned, our country and its people should home FIRST!

    7. Hey Marni, take your crazy elsewhere please. You're not welcome here and none are the rest of your kind unless you want to dialogue respectfully, which I highly doubt is going to happen.

    8. If expecting native English speakers to communicate effectively in their primary language is judgmental, then I guess I am!

What does it mean that "our country and its people should home first"? That made no sense the first time you posted it, and it didn't make any more sense the second or third times.

  10. Cagle,
You could do your part by not being so negative! People need encouragement, this is true of all people, even yourself. When you see someone trying to make a difference in the world by advocating for any orphan, whether domestically or internationally (God doesn't see the difference)please don't critize them for doing so!An encouraging comment on a blog or a prayer for the person adovocating can make a world of difference. It hurts everyone, including yourself, when hurtful things are said. No one would even know these babies exist if it weren't for these blogs and organizations like Reece's Rainbow!

    1. Honestly, I do not see where what I said was very negative or negative at all. I was simply stating that we should concentrate our efforts here, at home, before we try to "rescue" the rest of the world. I simply feel that in order for anyone to be able to be an effective advocate for something, trying to "fix" what is near home is where it should start.

And if anyone is being negative, why don't we wonder how the author of this post had the audacity to call me a TROLL! Also, I do not think that I made a comment here, then "tucked my tail and ran". I am not here to argue with, what I am now seeing, hypocrites. I was not angry about the initial post by the author, but when they sit on their high horse, judge me, my emotions and throw out names, like troll, I then get angry. If this was meant to bring awareness to any issue, it has shown me that the author should hit the confessional window, get on her knees and ask her god to forgive her for being such a hypocrite outside of her initial rant.

    2. I called you a troll because your behavior was like one in your first few responses. I think you need to stop with the personal attacks.

I do plenty of things here to help the needy. But the idea that we must fix all the problems here before we help anyone else is ludicrous. The children here don't get thrown into mental institutions to be left to starve. I can't make you care, I guess, but I'd like to know exactly all the huge things you're doing in America that makes you think you don't need to help anyone else. Is your quota full? You can only care for so many? Sorry, I don't work that way. I don't see Americans as special and deserving of more just because we're Americans. I see us all as equal, as humans, with a dignity of life that deserves respect. And these orphans do not receive that.

And thanks, I was at confession on Friday. I'm good. I assure you. Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean I'm sinning.

  11. caglehead, I get what you're saying and agree as far as the needy in America go. I feel the same way for kids and adults who are hurting and hungry and dealing with all kinds of injustice here in America. Because I'm an American, and that is mostly what I am exposed to and what I know. But I don't see that it has to be an either/or thing, you know what I mean? awareness, prayers and assistance wherever you see it, wherever it's needed, is what we're supposed to do. That's the message of the Good Samaritan; EVERYONE is our neighbor.

    1. exactly. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. We are called to help ALL of them. Whether they are from here, Europe, Africa, anywhere, we are ALL human, and we should be concerned about all gross injustices that affect the children of this world. (and grown ups too)

    2. Andi Clare, that was all I was trying to say. I just feel if the author wants prayers, thoughts, time volunteering, etc, it should start here first then branch out. As a "wealthy" country, we are the poorest when it comes to the help and compassion that should be shown to our fellow Americans. And it bothers me that I am being called negative, yet I am being attacked by others who fail to understand my point here. And I appreciate your comment that didn't appear to attack my position here.

    3. How do you feel about places like compassion international and world vision then?

  13. Cagle, I'm just going to ask one question. What exactly am I taking away from you or America by helping advocate for orphans? Is finding them homes and care such a horrible thing that it will negatively affect the united states' poor?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Cagle,
You are negative because you are criticizing someone for wanting to help someone else! Period. Really, what kind of person does this? Everyone is different. Each person has a different calling. God calls some to work here at home, and He calls some to work abroad. Obviously, you must be called to do something here at home. Is anyone on here being critical of that? Again, why don't you try encouraging someone today? Everyone would feel a lot better!
