Matthew 5:10

This verse has been applicable so many times in my life. It is especially true now, while in the adoption process, since we deal with a certain amount of negativity from people.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

We did not start this process for our own benefit. We did it out of love. We did it because Nico deserves a family, and we were tired of seeing him passed over. We put our wants aside and focused on what the right thing to do was. This child will end up in an adult institution in a little over 2 years if no one adopts him.

So, it's okay if you don't think we should adopt. It's not going to change anything. We will do what's right, no matter what adversity we face.

Our Lord adopted US first. He redeemed us on the cross. It is our duty, as Christians, to make sure the dignity of human life is upheld in all regards. From conception to natural death. Adoption is part of that. These children deserve a family, and God-willing, we will provide one for this sweet boy.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27

  1. For what it's worth I think it is absolutely awesome that you are welcoming this precious boy into your family. The idea of adopting is something that has been growing in my heart over this past year and families like yours are an inspiration to me. You are doing a holy and virtuous and very very good thing. God bless you all abundantly and may Nico come home as soon as possible.

  2. Thank you. We know we are doing the right thing, so we are not going to let negativity stop us. But it's still hurtful sometimes.

  3. Are there really people who would even dare to say something like that? I am so inspired by your adoption journey. I just met a mother in my daughter's preschool class who adopted her daughter and she was sharing the difficulty and the's unbelievable. I think what you are doing is amazing and I'm praying for you and Nico!

  4. Yes there are, unfortunately. But, there are far more people supporting us, so it's fine. No good deed goes unpunished.

Thank you. All your prayers and support will get us through.

And thanks for adding the button to your blog! If you want the Reece's Rainbow one with the button on it, let me know!
