Days 4 and 5 and 6

Oops! I'm behind all ready! We are doing great over here. It's quite the adjustment from busy mommy and daddy to having nothing to do. We only visit 2 hours a day, and the sun goes down at 4:45, and we really have nowhere to walk to, so we're a little stuck. I am trying to get used to it. We are having fun, though.

Our little man is such a joy. We met him on Wednesday after driving 2 hours on old pot hole ridden ex military road. Drivers here swerve around each pot hole. I was not feeling well for some of the trip.

We got to the orphanage and we waited in the hall a bit. Our facilitator then took us into some office, the lady there cooed over the baby and said she admired us for what we are doing. Goodness, it's hard to know what to say to that. We are humbled by this whole process and we're truly. Only doing what we felt called to.

Anyway, we were then taken to the music room where they went over his history with us and then they brought him in! He is SO much bigger than we expected. He's a chunky guy, and definitely won't fit  in most of the he clothes I brought. He sat on Kyles lap first because I was nursing the. Baby. Luckily, Samuel finished and I was able to put him down so I could hold him, but only after our boy gave papa some kisses. He is super affectionate  and so sweet.

We got to play with him a bit, and then another lady showed off his walking skills. He walks holding onto objects like the tiny chairs, or someone's hands. She also picked him up and dipped him in the air and tickled him, it was so cute  and not something I expected.

We took him back to his groupa and our facilitator had us wait a bit and then came out and asked if we liked him and if we wanted to adopt him still. Yes! We do! We said. He is precious.

We ran around for hours, had lunch, and didn't get to our apartment until pretty late at night. We had to get paperwork rolling.

The next day, we picked him up from his groupa and he seemed so happy to see us! He really, really likes Kyle, and they spent a lot of time bonding and giggling.  He loves the ball pit, loves to look through books, and he can catch onto anything we show him once. He has an amazing laugh. They came and took him from us that day a little early, but he was getting tired, so that was ok.

Yesterday was just about the same, he loves our phones, he loves to walk, and this day he kept daddy busy walkinga round throwing toys and chasing after them. He snorts when he laughs. :) he also liked sitting in Samuels baby seat and rocking with the blanket over him. He looooves peekaboo, too.

Today is Saturday. We showed up and they were still dressing him, so we waited  and one of the nannies held Samuel. We played in his groupa's bedroom today, and I was so excited to see where he sleeps. I have no idea which one was his bed, there were 14 little beds, but it was still nice to see. He mostly wanted to look through the books and snuggle. He played ball with daddy and snuggled with me a bit, then it was time to go. We took him out to his groupa and those sweet babies break my heart. Our boy blew me a kiss and didn't want to let me go. The nanny noticed and told the other nannies. :)

One of the little boys says, "mama?!" And taps on his chest. It's hard not to cry. These kids probably won't be adopted, and as far as I can tell, none of them have special needs, so I don't think they can be listed for international adoption until they're 5.  Pray for them, friends. They are amazing little love bugs.

Well, that catches me up a bit. Please keep praying for us! We're praying for you.

  2. Your post is a reminder that kids need dads too. Often, the call goes out to find a mom for a child, but finding a dad is equally important. I'm happy to hear the bonding is going well.

  4. I'm so glad that he's bonding so well with you all! Hopefully that'll make the transition for him go a little smoother. We should all pool some money together and buy you a good ball pit for when you get home.
